Introducing Elijah David Brown!

We are excited to announce that Elijah David Brown is here! We had an appointment with our midwife on the 21st which is 2 days after the due date. The midwife told us she was concerned that the baby may be getting too big so we set up an appoint to be induced at Ogden regional for 2:00 PM. We called before the 2:00 appointment and they said they were all full! That didn't make Traci very happy. She was ready to have this baby. After checking back with them several times we finally got a call and was admitted at 6:00. Traci was given cytotec to soften her cervix to prepare her for the pitocin. After two doses of cytotec she was having contractions about 1-2 minutes apart. After an hour or two of strong contractions Traci decided it was time for the epidural. So at 2:00 AM she was given the epidural which helped. Shelly and Marci were a big help and after the epidural we all tried to get a little rest... which never really works. Traci progressed very quickly without pitocin and by 5:30 was a 10 and our midwife was called in to brake the water because she amniotic sac was showing. Around 8:00 she was given pitocin and we were ready to push. Traci did a great job but our baby was too big and facing the wrong way. After about an hour and a half of pushing the doc said the baby hadn't made any progress and she suggested a c-section. Traci was struggling through all this because for some reason her epidural wasn't working right and she could still feel a lot of pain. At 10:30 we went into the surgical room and Traci got a shot right into the spine because the epidural wasn't working. The c-section commenced and I stood up to watch. I couldn't believe it when they were pulling him out. He was a big boy. His head was coned because of the pushing that was done earlier. He weighed in at 10 lbs and is 21.5". He is a strong cute little boy! Traci and I are excited to be Mom and Dad to this cute little boy. Thanks for all those who helped.
